CHIREC Junior Model United Nations is an educational simulation where students take on the roles of delegates representing different countries in various United Nations committees. Through structured debate, negotiation, and diplomacy, participants work to address global challenges and draft resolutions.
JMUN provides a unique platform for students to develop critical skills in public speaking, research, debate, and international relations. Delegates engage with complex global issues, learn about different cultures and perspectives, and build the confidence to express their ideas on a world stage.
What is MUN?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an educational simulation and academic activity in which students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN involves and teaches participants research, speaking, debating, and writing skills, in addition to critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
During MUN conferences, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization's agenda. While playing their roles as ambassadors, student "delegates" deliver speeches, prepare draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the MUN conference rules of procedure – all in the interest of mobilizing international cooperation to resolve problems that affect countries worldwide.
